CHOGM, Uganda

The 2007 Commonwealth Heads of Goverment meeting were heald in Kampala, Uganda. This is the meeting where all 53 heads of state form the commonwealth meet to disscuss political matters of the commonwealth. This was quite an event for Uganda! It is not every day when you have the Queen, Prince Phillip, Prince Charles and Gordon Brown to mention a few all in the same building in down town Kampala.

It was for the opening ceromony that blackburn based, HSL productions were invited to come and install all the lighting and rigging for the show. Flying 38 tonnes of fright and havign your own Jumbo jet is quite something to see, espeicially in Uganda. It was slightly different working conditions to usual, but we all got on with it and it was a resounding sucess.

Shanghai Again

Having just returned from the Mont Blonc show in Shanghai, M Squared Designs are once again in Shanghai. This time it is a slightly different show! Using Hippotizer media servers and the Stratosphere dome, we were now working for the major branding companies in the advertising world! As the company is always evolving and learning new techniques for the equipment we use, this project was a very good insight into different techniques and the areas we can work in.

A Tribute to Women

Mont Blonc launched there new Jewellery collection with a massive west end style show, A tribute to Women. Mont Blonc are normally associated with Watches, but now they have a lovely Jewellery collection. M Squared Designs were brought in by Steve Neild of Blitz Production, Kuala Lumpur to assist with lighting Programming and show operation. It is always a challenge to do a large scale production on any stage, but this were very different. The production was put on in a old warehouse in the industrial parts of Shanghai. There was no infrastructure at all, just a large open space and a 250 tonne crane. The production personnel were brought in from round the world to produce this one off show. the 250 guests were wined and dined whilst watching all the best shows from the west end. with the finale of Diamonds are a girls best friend, just topped the show and the Jewellery that went with it.....

Malaysia's 50th Year of Independence

Malaysia celebrates it 50th year of Independence in style. With a cast of over 10,000 people and watched by a live TV audience of over 1 million it is not every day that you get to work on such a large scale show. With all the Royal families of Malaysia in attendance, HRH Prince Andrew, Sultan of Brunei, Prince of Thailand and many other leading world figures it was the show of the year to be working on in Malaysia. With only 2 weeks from landing in Kuala Lumpur to the actual show, there was a lot of long nights ahead but it was all worth it while in the end.

Lily Allen, V Festivals

Lily Allen was on good form at V Festrivals this year. M2 Designs was yet again brough in to look after all the lighting requirments for Lily live show. T4's coverge of the Weekend festival Freatured Lily somewhat lively show....... look out for more show to follow.
